Obituary

Dwight Allen Lawrence of Melbourne, Arkansas

Dwight Allen Lawrence, beloved son of the late Malcolm Glenn Lawrence and Erma Rhea Rush Lawrence, was born on June 16, 1952, in Batesville, Arkansas. He departed this life on July 12, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 72 years and 19 days.

A lifelong resident of Izard County, Dwight was a proud member of the Melbourne High School graduating class of 1970. Shortly after high school, he was drafted into the Army and served his country for two years, including 18 months stationed in Germany. On September 2, 1977, he married Toni Roten and together they raised two sons.

Dwight was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He started his career as a carpenter but spent most of his working life as a Field Buyer for Koppers Inc., retiring after 27 years of dedicated service.

Dwight found joy in hunting, working on the farm and most of all, spending time with his family. He had a special passion for his grandchildren, attending their activities and sporting events and talking proudly about their accomplishments. He was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Belview Baptist Church.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 46 years, Toni Lawrence; two sons, Jason Lawrence (Mandy) of Farmington and Jeremy Lawrence (Candice) of Cabot; three sisters, Elaine Wallis (Lynn) of Franklin, Rhonda Halbrook (Rick) of Melbourne and Shelly Downing of Melbourne; and four grandchildren, Gabe Lawrence of Sage, Jenna Lawrence of Fayetteville, Austin Bell of Fayetteville and Adia Lawrence of Cabot. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sydney Roten of Melbourne; brother-in-law, Mike Roten (Judy) of Russellville; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dwayne Lawrence.
