Dorothy Sue Hellums Jones

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Dorothy Sue Hellums Jones, daughter of the late Willie Alphis Hellums and Gracie Lorenda Jackson Hellums, was born August 13, 1933 in Violet Hill, Arkansas.  She departed this life January 20, 2023 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 89 years, 5 months, 7 days. In August 1952, she was united in marriage to Billy Jack Jones and together they raised three children. Dorothy spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  She was an excellent gardener, who loved growing vegetables and flowers.  Most of her working years were spent as a store manager for Dollar General.  She was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters:  Kathy Beck and husband Eldon of Van Buren and Karen Lynch and husband Bill of Melbourne; one brother:  Eldon Hellums and wife Shirley of Pyatt; three grandsons:  Chris Beck, Scotty Backhaus, Brandon Backhaus; five great grandchildren:  Katie Beck, Kyle Beck, Clayton Lynch, Waylon Lynch and Dylan Lynch and a host of other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son:  Jerry Jones; four brothers:  Billy Noel Hellums, Noble Hellums, Thomas Hellums, Johnnie Hellums and one grandson:  Clayton Lynch.

Her family will be holding a memorial service at a later date.
