Dolores Virginia Doty Whitfield

of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Dolores Virginia Doty Whitfield, daughter of the late James Paul Doty and Vera Virginia Martin Doty, was born September 14, 1935 in Peru, Kansas.  She departed this life February 20, 2025 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 89 years.  In 1954 she was united in marriage to Bobby Cleo Whitfield in Wichita, Kansas and together they raised two sons and four daughters.  During her working years, Dolores worked as a nurse's aide in Kansas, after moving to Izard County, she worked at Carl Reeves Grocery, the Glove Factory in Pineville and Washington Auto Parts.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Calico Rock.

Survivors include:  two sons:  David Whitfield and wife Lola of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Johnny Whitfield and wife Cindy of Calico Rock; four daughters:  Ann Stewart of Florida, Jeanna Benbrook of Paragould, Kathy Whitfield of Calico Rock, Mary Wright and husband Kevin of Lepanto; one brother:  Dallas Doty (April); six sisters:  Lois Clayton (Larry), Oleta Jean Robinson (John), Nola Brown, Rachel Livingston(David), Arline Livingston(Gary), Dorothy Rowe(Larry);  fourteen grandchildren:  Jaden Whitfield (Adrienne), Jacob Whitfield (Bryanna), Rachel Lowery (Alan), Stephanie Hellums (Jared), Jessica Reust, Maria Christopher (Grant), Kristin Alvarado (Gabriel), Jeremy Stewart (Jessica), Zachary Stewart (Jena), Carlie Noelke (Jeremy), Cody Stewart (Emily), Chad Benbrook, Jasie Arnold (Adam), George Sexton (Sara); numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years:  Bobby Whitfield; an infant brother; one sister:  Gail Bradford and one brother:  Paul Doty and his wife Kay Doty; and one granddaughter-in-law, Wenona Benbrook.

Funeral service will be Monday, February 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Calico Rock with Andy Riley officiating.  Burial will follow at Pineville Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
