PAUL DAVID WILSON

OF CALICO ROCK, ARKANSAS

Paul David Wilson the son of the late Jessie Arthur and Ada Pitts Wilson was born June 28, 1941 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. He departed this life June 23, 2025 at White River Health Care in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 23 days.

David graduated high school in 1959 from Calico Rock High School.  He earned a

BA in Mathematics from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1963. He later received an MA in Mathematics from the U of A in 1973.  In 1990 he earned an additional degree in Public School Administration.

David started his career teaching math in Rogers, Arkansas where he held the position for one year. Returning to his hometown in Calico Rock, Arkansas, he landed a job teaching high school math where he continued to teach for the next 25 years.  He left Calico Rock and taught math in Ingram, TX for one year. After that he came back home and taught high school math in the Norfork School District for two years before going to Izard County Consolidated School District where he filled the high school principal's position/superintendent position for one year.  The next ten years he would spend back home in Calico Rock where he accepted the Calico Rock School Superintendent's position.

Mr. Wilson touched the lives of so many students over the years and loved seeing them become remarkable assets to society.

David married Phyllis Lancaster June 3, 1979.  He brought two little girls, Jessica and Holly, into their union and she brought one little boy, Shawn, of which David adopted.  They lived in Fifty-Six, Arkansas the first few years of their married life. In 1983 they brought a new baby boy, Josh, into their family making it complete.

He then brought the family to his home town of Calico Rock where they made a home and Phyllis continues to live now, David loved spending time with Phyllis and his children.  He had a passion for horses. After retirement, he and Phyllis did lots of trail riding.  They also traveled all 50 states and visited all the state houses.

David was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith.  He was an active member of the Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 61 years.  He served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday school teacher, youth leader and was involved in Christian education.

David is survived by his wife Phyllis Lancaster Wilson of 46 years.  A daughter Jessica Wilson McClain and husband Shad, a daughter Holly Wilson Potter, a son Shawn Wilson and wife Rebecca and a son Josh Wilson and wife Alexandra.  Eight Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Calico Rock.
