Darrell Wayne
Owens
Oct 1, 1942 — Aug 15, 2021
Darrell Wayne Owens, son of the late Tedie Thomas Owens and Carrie Elizabeth Dockins
Owens, was born October 1, 1942, in Wideman, Arkansas. He departed this life August 15,
2021, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 15 days. He was united
in marriage to Betty Jean Majors on April 21, 1962, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, and together they
raised three children. He graduated from Oxford High School, where he excelled on the
basketball court when his coach could talk him out of a good coon hunt. He worked in the timber
industry for many years before working at the Boeing plant in Melbourne, where he retired in
2006. Darrell was a natural outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, farming, and gardening. He
enjoyed yardsaling and a good game of Dominos. His greatest joy was spending time with his
family and passing these things down to them.
Darrell accepted Jesus Christ as Savior when he was twelve years old and never wavered in his
trust in God. His greatest accomplishment was leading his family to know God and accept Christ
into their lives. Throughout his fight with cancer, his first question to his caregivers was if they
knew Jesus. He served many years as a Sunday School teacher and deacon in the Calico Rock
Assembly of God Church and attended New Life Church in Heber Springs at the time of his
passing.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Majors Owens of the home; one son, Mark Owens
and wife Lori of Batesville, Arkansas; two daughters: Cheryl Bell and husband Danny of
Vilonia, Arkansas, and Carol Sellars and husband Marty of Ash Flat, Arkansas; three sisters:

Katherine Owens of Pineville, Arkansas; two brothers-in-law Ellis Jones of Mountain Home,
Arkansas, and Paul Majors (Pansy) of Willow Springs, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews
