Cynthia Hector
Darmstaedter
Nov 10, 1933 — Dec 2, 2024
Cynthia Ellen Hector Darmstaedter
Formerly of Melbourne, Arkansas
Cynthia Ellen (Hector) Darmstaedter left us on the evening of Monday, December 2, 2024 at Madison County General Hospital while surrounded by family. Cynthia was born on November 10, 1933 and just celebrated her 91st birthday with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cynthia was born to sharecropper James Harvey Hector and his wife Bertha Hector in Kaiser, Arkansas. Her parents separated, leaving her to live with her father on the farm. As the story goes, Cynthia and her father didn't see eye-to-eye, and she ran away to the big city of Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 14. There she would go live with her mother and step-father until she finished high school. She attended Humes High School with the soon-to-be Rock N' Roll legend, Elvis Presley. After graduation, she got a job as a model in the early 1950's. During her time modeling, she met a young staff sergeant in the Air Force by the name of Nicholous (Nick) Eugene Darmstaedter. Nick asked for Cynthia's hand in marriage in 1951. They worked together building a beautiful family and life full of love. The two moved around the country while Nick was in the Air Force. Cynthia had her first child on December 1, 1953, and had three more children by 1958.
The family moved to Twin Creek, Arkansas in the early 1970's and built a home and a business. The business was a building designed to be a general store with a full kitchen and repair shop. It was called the Twin Creek Trading Post. It was a very popular pit stop on Arkansas Scenic Highway 9 for travelers and deer hunters alike. Cynthia managed and ran the business full time for many years. As the years passed, Cynthia found a passion for making and teaching to make porcelain dolls. They later went on to open a full doll factory store in Mountain View, Arkansas. Cynthia was also a Certified Medical Technician (CMT) and volunteered in hospice care in the local communities. As they watched their children and grandchildren grow, the clocked never stopped. The couple decided to slim down and move into Melbourne, Arkansas in the 2000's. They lived an incredibly happy life filled with love and success. On February 23, 2013, as a shock to all, cancer called Nick home to the Lord. Cynthia would live for 11 more years close to her children, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
She joins in heaven six of her seven brothers: Lyman, Lonnie, Leon, Vernon, Floyd and James Alfred Hector. She also joins her beloved husband of 61 years, Nick.
Cynthia is survived by her brother Freddie Hector (Mona). Cynthia is survived by her two sons, Alex Darmstaedter (Nikki) and Chester Darmstaedter, and two daughters Tracie Flynn (Dennis) and Terresa Adams (Roger). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: Keith Gillihan (Jennifer), Danial Gillihan (Catharine), Hailey Jackson (David), Ryan Flynn (Julie), Ellen Lloyd (Jordan), Juan Flynn, Rex Darmstaedter, Eric Darmstaedter, Sonja Darmstaedter, Adam Darmstaedter, Megyn Keppler (Joe), Nicholous Darmstaedter (Natalie); 12 great-grandchildren: Anna Riley Jackson, India Jackson, Lainie Darnall, Collins Flynn, Cecilia Flynn, Maddy Lloyd, Flynn Lloyd, Jude Lloyd, Michael Bania, Jr., Cherysh Rone, Kate Gillihan, Faith Gillihan.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6 at Combs Cemetery in Melbourne, Arkansas under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
