Clovis Eugene Vest

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Clovis Eugene Vest, son of the late Eugene Vest and Beatrice Rush Vest, was born August 31, 1941 on the family farm in Jumbo, Arkansas.  He departed this life November 13, 2022 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 13 days.  He was united in marriage to Lorna Elaine Thomas December 24, 1964 and together they raised one daughter.   Clovis spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, Daddy, Poppa, Great Popa and provider.  He was a loyal friend to many and was a believer in the Lord.  Before retiring from C & J Service Station, he worked at Allis Chalmers in Independence, Missouri for 10 years before deciding to move back to Arkansas.  Once in Arkansas with his family, he went to work at Paul Miller Motors, as a Parts and Service Manager.  Later he purchased C & J Service. During the time he owned and operated C & J Service, he met many people that became like family to him.   After many years of running the station, he decided that it was time to retire and enjoy his life, farming, hunting and family.

Clovis is survived by his wife of 57 years:  Lorna Elaine Vest of the home; one daughter:  Pamela Elaine Hellums and husband Richard of Oxford; two granddaughters:  Courtney Dawn Ross and husband Jordan of Conway and Morgan Brittany Shirley and husband Steven of Rosie; two step grandchildren:  Richard Michael and Brittany Hellums; ten great grandchildren: Carmen ross, Camille Ross, Channing Ross, Caroline Ross, Calvin Ross, Callum Ross, Gentry Shirley-Hoskinds, Hogan Shirley-Hoskinds, Hudson and Rawlins Shirley; one brother:  Darrell Vest and wife Marsha of Melbourne and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother:  Eulis Vest and and one sister:  Lucille Cross.

Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, November 16 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.   Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Paul Rush and Leon Morehead officiating.  Burial will follow at Combs Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Phil Duckett, Jeff McAnally, Merlin Dry, Chuck Tate, Dale Silas and Eugene Bull.
