Charles David Washington, son of the late George E. Washington and Annie Jelinek Washington, was born April 7, 1939 in Mount Olive, Arkansas. He departed this life December 17, 2022 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Loranger June 18, 1960 and together they raised their family and grew their business. Charles spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. His working career began as an auto mechanic. In 1970 he founded Washington Pump Company. In addition to his work at Washington Pump, he raised cattle. Charles enjoyed all types of hunting, especially deer and turkey hunting. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. He was especially proud that his children followed in his footsteps and worked with Washington Pump. Charles loved returning to Mount Olive to visit.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years: Shirley Washington of the home; children: David Washington and wife Angie of Mountain Home, Randall Washington and wife Kandace of Brockwell and Shannon Washington and wife Sherry of Brockwell, Deborah and Mark Braman of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers: Joe Washington of Wideman and Andrew Washington of Washington, one sister: Alice Dockins of Brockwell; one sister-in-law: Wilma Washington of Calico Rock; one brother-in-law: Bill Norris of Little Rock; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: George Washington, Jr; one sister: Georgia Norris; one sister-in-law: Sue Washington and one brother-in-law: Kennard Dockins.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
