Charles Halsey Browning

of Dolph, Arkansas

formerly of Melbourne

Charles Halsey Browning, son of the late Orville H. Browning and Laura Crenshaw Browning, was born June 19, 1953 in Montgomery, Alabama. He departed this life September 12, 2019 at his home in Dolph, Arkansas at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 24 days. At age 18 Charlie enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietman War. After serving eight years, he was honorably discharged. He spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, provider and friend. Before retirement, Charlie worked several different types of jobs. He worked many years for Mowhawk Flooring in Melbourne. He was a carpenter whose speciality was building log homes. He also worked at Sitton Saw Mill and Evans farms. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Stone November 21, 2014. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Dolph Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 4 years: Carolyn Browning of Dolph; one son and daughter-in-law: Christopher and Lindsey Browning of Salem; three daughters: and two sons-in-law: Melissa and Chris Melton of Brockwell and Billie and Jeramy Gay of Pleasant Plains and Sonya Hall of Calico Rock; two brothers: Richard Browning of Alabama and James Browning of Texas; nine grandchildren: Ethan Melton, Edge Melton, Zoey Browning, Tucker Browning, Bentlie Gay, Baylie Gay, Kactus Gay, Garrett Hall, Deanna Hall and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Peggy Wood Browning; one sister: Helen Marie Browning and four brothers: Nathan Browning, Billy Browning, Chester Browning and Butch Browning.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Memorial service will be Monday, September, 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.

Memorials may be made to: Arkansas Children's Hospital, Cancer Unit, #1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72201.
