Charlene Mary Towns Welch

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Charlene Mary Towns Welch, daughter of the late Roby and Fern Galloway Towns, was born August 15, 1946 in Palos Heights, Illinois.  She departed this life September 21, 2018 at her home in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 6 days.  She was united in marriage to Arthur Welch October 9, 1974 and together they raised six children.  Charlene spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  She spent her working years as a private duty Registered Nurse.  After she retired from nursing, she and Arthur moved to Calico Rock.  Charlene was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Calico Rock.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years:  Arthur Welch of the home; one son:  Cory Welch of the home; five daughters and three sons-in-law:  Patty and Richard Merchant of Illinois, Pamela and Mark Rush of Guion, Kimberly and Mitch Rush of Melbourne, "Tye" Welch and fiancé Earl Freeman of Calico Rock and Angel Welch of the home; one sister:  Jeri Fergus of Crystal Lake, Illinois; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Kevin Bishop officiating.
