Carolyn Jean Sirratt Mathews

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Carolyn Jean Sirratt Mathews, daughter of the late Olan Sirratt and Grace Hughes Sirratt, was born June 22, 1937 in Malvern, Arkansas.  She departed this life February 3, 2023 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 12 days. In 1953 she was united in marriage to Hubert Lyral Nugent and together they raised their family. Carolyn spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend.  Most of her working years were spent as a caregiver.  Carolyn had a passion for quilting and during her lifetime made hundreds of quilts.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters:  Sharon Montgomery and husband Tony of Zion, Penny Rueter and husband Ken of Batesville and Bobbie Jo Haley and husband Floyd of Melbourne; four grandchildren: Justin (Lacey) Thornton, Hunter Nugent, Ryan Haley and Taryn (Camron) Hames; five great grandchildren:  Kallie , Jordyn, Austyn Thornton and Maddie and Hudson Hames; several nieces and nephews that thought the world of her and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers:  James Sirratt and Olan Sirratt and three sisters:  Marilyn Gregory, Ruby Morris, Mary Ellen Sirratt.

Visitation will be held, Monday, February 11 from 4-6 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  The family will be having a private graveside memorial service on Saturday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Social Hill Cemetery in Friendship, Arkansas.
