Carl Franklin Blankenship

Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Carl Franklin Blankenship, son of the late L. S. "Loy" Blankenship and Altha Clementine Rodman Blankenship, was born February 6, 1933 in Bandmill, Arkansas.  He departed this life January 17, 2026 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 92.  He was united in marriage to Anna Kaye Muss August 12, 1955 in Wenatchee, Washington and together they raised four children.  Carl served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Carl spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend.  For 55 years, 9 months and 23 days he worked as a barber.  Carl was also a well-known square dance caller for over 20 years.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Calico Rock First Baptist Church.

Carl is survived by four children:  Jannie Swafford (David) of Benton, Terry Blankenship (Shellia Phipps) of Melbourne, Gary Blankenship (Shannon) of Springdale, Scott Blankenship of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren:  Carla Wooten, Stacey Wheeler, Ashley Lapeer, Sam Blankenship, Garren Blankenship, Taylor Blankenship, Hunter Blankenship, Hannah Blankenship; nine great grandchildren; special friend:  June Wyatt of Calico Rock and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; ten siblings: Rosco Lee, Guy, Hugh, Delbert Kay, Paul, Wayne, Newt, Dean, Fred Blankenship and June Willsie.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Calico Rock First Baptist Church with Kevin Bishop and Sam Blankenship officiating.
