Obituary

Dale Edward "Bucksey" Harmon, son of the late Charles Edward Harmon and Irene Edna Baker Roddy, was born December 19, 1957, in Kansas City, Kansas. He departed this life July 9, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 20 days. Bucksey was a 1977 graduate of Melbourne High School. He worked his way through high school, by catching chickens at night, cleaning classrooms after school and then heading out to the service station to work. Later he went to work for Bandmill Home Center. Bucksey was united in marriage to Phyllis McCollum February 14, 1986, and together they raised two daughters. Bucksey and Phyllis bought some land and Bucksey began raising cattle with Don McCollum. He enjoyed farm work and became interested in buying and selling land. He went to work with Sharp Realty and begin selling real estate. Bucksey had a personality that made him an excellent real estate salesman. He enjoyed making a garden every summer and loved sharing his crop with family and friends. He loved old country music, entertaining and spending time with his grandsons. He was a member of Melbourne Masonic Lodge #141 and always looked forward to the annual fishing trip and cooking hamburgers on the square on Pioneer Day. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Belview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Phyllis Harmon of the home; two daughters: Tess Weatherford and husband Toby of Violet Hill and Tara Jo Tate and husband Braden of Melbourne; one brother: Dennis Harmon and wife Roxanne of Oxford; three grandsons: Jasper Tate, Max Weatherford and Kyler Tate; one mother-in-law, Betty Jo McCollum-Loggains of Melbourne, aunts: Carmen Brown and Harriett Evans of Illinois, Opal Stroud of Melbourne, Gladys Eisenbraun of Washington and one uncle: David Harmon of Jonesboro; nieces: Shonda Trewyn of Melbourne; Lesha Watson of Melbourne; nephews: Sherman Ball of Melbourne, Brad Blankenship of Newport and Kevin Blankenship of Bartlett, Tennessee; cousins: Eldenia Heath, Penny Ramsey, Fredia Duren, Larry Crotts, Gary Crotts, Vickey Gillihan, Debbie Blankenship, Randy Baker, Tresa Hunsinger, Dean Hutchins, Jody Dale, Lonnie Hutchins, Arnie Hutchins, Mark Walker, Jimmy Walker, Della Jones, Terri Armstrong, Sherri Breckenridge, Michael Harmon, Seth Womack, Dion Burgess and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson: Carson Reed Weatherford; one sister: Rhonda Kay Harmon and his paternal grandparents: Buck and Merle Harmon; one brother-in-law: Bobby Blankenship and one sister-in-law: Donna Blankenship.

Visitation will be Friday, July 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne. Burial will follow at Old Philadelphia Cemetery.
