Of Franklin, Arkansas
Boyd Ray Plumlee, son of the late Clarence J. Plumlee and Telitha Ella Hall Plumlee, was born September 24, 1944 in Myron, Arkansas. He departed this life December 7, 2022 at his home in Myron, Arkansas at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 13 days. Ray was a graduate of Violet Hill High School and went on to graduate from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a teaching degree. He was united in marriage to Kaye Brown Plumlee July 24, 1976 in Franklin and together they raised three daughters and worked their farm. He taught school for a short time before returning to run the family dairy farm, retiring after twenty years. Ray served fifteen years on the Izard County Consolidated School Board in addition to serving on the Farm Bureau Board and the Dairy Farmers of America Board. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Myron Baptist Church.
Boyd is survived by his wife of 46 years: Kaye Plumlee of the home; three daughters: Anna Plumlee and husband Tom Stiefel of Bentonville, Sarah Lesley and husband Nick of Myron and Katie Tate and husband Chris of Violet Hill; one sister: Loma Plumlee of Myron; five grandchildren: Telitha and Eleanor Plumlee-Stiefel, Matthew (Haley) Lesley, Bobby Ray Tate and Zena K. Tate; three brothers-in-law: Wes Brown of Zion, Keith Brown and wife Karin of Zion, James Brown of Evening Shade; their families and a host of other relatives and many good friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Wilma Plumlee.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 11 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Graveside funeral service will be Monday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Roberts Cemetery in Franklin, Arkansas officiated by his lifelong friend: Van Thomas.
