Bobby Gene Johnson

Of Zion, Arkansas

Bobby Gene Johnson, son of the late Alfred "Batt" Johnson and Stella Fulbright Johnson, was born January 29, 1938 in Black Oak, Arkansas.  He departed this life April 25, 2021 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 28 days. Bobby proudly served in the United States Navy for two years.  He was united in marriage to Katherine June Vance December 17, 1975 in Lodi, Missouri and together they raised seven children.  Most of his working years were spent farming.  It was said the he went from "flat land" farming to "hill" farming when he moved to Izard County.  He enjoyed raising cattle and working his garden.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.

He is survived by four sons:  Robert Johnson (Letha) of Bakersfield, Missouri, Jake Johnson (Loribeth Walker) of Zion, John William Johnson (Kim) of Fayetteville, Ray Johnson (Becky Raines) of Zion; three daughters:  Terri Cole (Dan) of Franklin, Linda Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carolyn Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters:  Phyllis Wooten of Jonesboro and Glenda Carr (Ed) of California; one brother:  Tony Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri; a total of twenty-five grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters:  Jo Katherine Marley and Mary Lou Carns and one great grandson:  Chris Cole.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Graveside funeral service will be Friday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Caney Springs Cemetery with John Higgins officiating.

Pallbearers:  Eli Johnson, Noah Johnson,  Caleb Johnson,  Ben Pickens, Ken Hoggard, Hayden Ekenes, DJ Cole.
