Billie Pauline Wayland Moody, age 92, of Dolph, Arkansas died Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Calico Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Haze and Hattie Dockins Wayland. She was born Saturday, February 13, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 1949 graduate of Calico Rock High School. She was the class Valedictorian, but this was taken from her and give to the Salutatorian because she was getting married the following day. She always felt like she wasn't done right. On May 19, 1949 Billie was united in marriage to Hale Jean Moody. He was the love of her life and she has mourned his passing every day since 2008. Their first two children, Gwenda and Jimmie, were born in Arkansas then they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Paula was born. While living in Goddard, Kansas, Billie obtained her beautician license in 1955 and was the owner of a four operator shop in Goddard. She loved owning and operating a beauty shop. She prided herself on making her clients happy. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Goddard. After living in Goddard twenty-two years Billie, Hale and the children returned to Dolph, Arkansas. Billie moved her church membership to Trimble Campground Church. She was a devoted Christian and Bible Scholar. She loved the Lord and Savior.
Billie is survived by one daughter: Paula Murphree and husband Ronnie; grandchildren: Joni Devors and Jason, Betsy Roach and Austin, Caroline Meyers and Gabe, Jake Moody and Kyra, Elisha Beale-Roberts and Candice Hopkins; great grandchildren: Zachary, Gary, Bobby Waylon, Charger, Chevelle, Aspen, Berkeley, Camilla, Presley, Huxley, Landon, Weston, Isaac, Peyton and Ashlynn and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter: Gwenda Sample; one son: Jimmie Moody; two grandsons: Jeremy Sample and Jesse Moody.
Visitation and funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Dave Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Hand Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Zachary Devors, Jason Devors, Jake Moody, Gary Sample, Bobby Sample, Waylon Sample and Charger Hopkins.
