Betty Jo Davidson McCollum Loggains

Of Melbourne, Arkansas

Betty Jo Davidson McCollum Loggains, daughter of the late Roy Davidson and Betty Taylor Davidson, was born October 29, 1933 in Sage, Arkansas.  She departed this life August 1, 2025 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 91.  Betty Jo was a lifelong resident of Izard County. She was a 1952 graduate of Melbourne High School and was united in marriage to Don McCollum and together they raised two daughters.  After high school, she attended cosmetology school and worked as a beautician.   Betty was the owner and operator of the first florist in Melbourne for many years.  Later on, she ran the Millcrest with her brother Jim. "Mamma Jo", as she became known, and Don were married until he suddenly died on June 7, 1992.  Later, on January 14, 1999, she married Heavy Loggains and spent their life together, until his death in 2013. She was of the Baptist faith and a long-time member of Belview Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by one daughter:  Phyllis Harmon of Melbourne; one stepson:  Ken Loggains and wife Melanie of Nashville; six grandchildren:  Lesha Watson (Michael), Brad Blankenship (Casey), Tess Weatherford (Toby), Tara Jo Tate (Braden), Kevin Blankenship (Katelyn), William Loggains; ten great grandchildren:  Abbey Orf (Marcus), Andrew Haley (Sara), Madyson Lewis (Hayden), McKenna Minor, Izzy Blankenship, Miles Blankenship, Will Watson, Max Weatherford, Jasper Tate, Kyler Tate; four great great grandchildren:  Hutson Orf, Hadley Orf, Wrenley Lewis and Parker Haley due in September; her wonderful caregiver: Sharon Langston Edwards of Melbourne and a host of other relatives and many good friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers: Remmel, Bill and Jim Davidson; one daughter and son-in-law:  Donna and Bobby Blankenship; son-in-law: Dale "Bucksey" Harmon; great grandson: Carson Weatherford; stepson: Michael Loggains; her beloved dog: CheChe.

Visitation and funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 5 at Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.   Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Old Philadelphia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Old Philadelphia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1264, Melbourne, Arkansas  72556.
