of Melbourne, Arkansas

Bertha Leal- Medina, daughter of the late Jesus Leal and Santiaga Sarmiento, was born November 17, 1939, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. She departed this life January 24, 2025, in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 7days. She was united in marriage to Juan Medina Sr., and together they raised two sons. Bertha spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother, homemaker, and friend. She was retired from Conagra in Batesville. She was of Pentecostal faith.

Bertha is survived by two sons: Jorge Leal and wife Concepcion Hernandez-Leal, of Reynosa, Tamaulipas and Juan Medina Jr., and wife Mallori Medina of Melbourne, AR. Seven siblings: Norma Leal, Blanca Marino, Azalia Leal, Genoveva Leal, Cristoforo Leal, Jesus Leal, Silvia Leal. Six grandchildren: Jorge Hernandez, German Hernandez, Caitlin Tevalan, Jonathan Medina, Carson Medina, Beckham Davis. Six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral service will be Monday, January 27, at 2:00 pm at Howards Funeral Chapel in Melbourne, with Hector Garcia officiating.

Bertha Leal-Medina, hija de los difuntos Jesús Leal y Santiaga Sarmiento, nació el 17 de noviembre de 1939 en Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Partió de esta vida el 24 de Enero de 2025 en Jonesboro, Arkansas, a la edad de 85 años, 2 meses y 7 días. Se unió en matrimonio con Juan Medina Sr. y juntos criaron dos hijos. Bertha pasó su vida como una hija, hermana, esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela, ama de casa y amiga amorosa. Se jubiló de Conagra en Batesville. Era de fe pentecostal.

A Bertha le sobreviven dos hijos: Jorge Leal y su esposa Concepción Hernandez-Leal, de Reynosa, Tamaulipas y Juan Medina Jr., y su esposa Mallori Medina de Melbourne, Arkansas. Siete hermanos: Norma Leal, Blanca Marino, Azalia Leal, Genoveva Leal, Cristoforo Leal, Jesús Leal, Silvia Leal. Seis nietos: Jorge Hernández, Germán Hernández, Caitlin Tevalan, Jonathan Medina, Carson Medina, Beckham Davis. Seis bisnietos y una gran cantidad de otros familiares y muchos buenos amigos. Sus padres y su esposo la precedieron en la muerte.

El funeral se llevará a cabo el lunes 27 de enero a las 2:00 p. m. en la capilla funeraria Howards en Melbourne, y estará a cargo de Héctor García.
