Barbara Ann Wilson, of Calico Rock, Arkansas, passed away on April 2, 2026, at the age of 68.
She spent her life working. She attended school in Melbourne.
She began her career at Baxter Lab before going to work with Esther Fisher in dietary at Calico Rock Medical Center. Over the years, she served as Director of Dietary, Director of Housekeeping, and Director of Laundry. She earned her Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification through the University of Florida, a reflection of her dedication to her work. During that time, she was recognized for her efforts and was mentioned in and published in several health food articles.
She later worked in telecommunications for several years, but eventually returned to cooking. She enjoyed her work at the Ozark Folk Center, where she spent 20 years before retiring.
She was dedicated, dependable, and took pride in everything she did. Her life was defined by hard work, responsibility, and doing her job well. She was known by the work she did and by the great food she fed people over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stan Wilson and Rodney Carver; her sister, Connie Byler; her brother, Dale Byler; her parents, Jimmy Dale and Patsy (Evans) Byler; her nephew, Dustin Wilson; and her niece, Dixie Wilson.
She is survived by her three daughters, Shonte and Dave Thompson of Portland, Oregon; Courtney Wilson of the home; and Sasha and Jimmy Morrow of Melbourne, Arkansas; her sister, Sheila (Byler) Tate, and her brother-in-law, Kevin Tate.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Kennedy Grant of San Francisco, California; Maesin Grant of Portland, Oregon; Slayton Wheeler of Melbourne, Arkansas; and Lexxy Scott of Calico Rock, Arkansas; along with numerous friends, cousins, many people she fed with great food over the years, and her very loved pet, Maggie May.
A visitation/celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 5 from 3-8 p.m. at The Nook, located in the Calico Rock Museum and Visitors Center,
