Of Melbourne, Arkansas
Asa Dwain Welch, son of the late Chester "Bud" Welch and Mada Lee Gosser Welch, was born May 16, 1956 Tillamook, Oregon. He departed this life November 4, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 67 years 5 months and 19 days. He was united in marriage to Ruth Taylor May 16, 1975 and together they raised two daughters. Dwain spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, hardworking provider and friend. Most of his working years were spent working as a grocery store manager and in the auto parts industry. Dwain enjoyed collecting and trading guns. He attended church at Oxford United Methodist Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as song leader for several years.
Dwain is survived by his wife of 48 years: Ruth Welch of the home; two daughters: Lee Melton and husband Charley and Amanda Highfill and husband Joseph all of Melbourne; one sister: Dawn Branscum and Ronnie Branscum of Fifty-Six; four grandchildren: Alexis Stout and husband Sean of Walnut Ridge, Lucas Champ of Melbourne, Keith Melton of Melbourne and Keaton Melton of Melbourne and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Janice Melton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Oxford United Methodist Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m.at Oxford United Methodist Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Bobby Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Combs Cemetery Maintenance Fund, Combs Cemetery, C/O Sandra Smith, 187 Sand Hollow Road, Melbourne, Arkansas 72556.
Pallbearers: Chris Melton, Calvin Cooper, Sanders Lee Wyatt, Paul Womack, Robert Payton, Butch Warren.
