Obituary

Arthur Elbert Jones

of Calico Rock, Arkansas

Arthur Elbert Jones, 89, passed away peacefully in Calico Rock, Arkansas on January 27, 2026. Born in Boswell, Arkansas on May 25, 1936, Art lived a full and meaningful life rooted in hard work and family.

Art and his wife, Lovan, married on December 25, 1959. Shortly afterwards he departed for a stint in the Army for two years. Upon his return, they moved to St. Louis, Missouri and eventually settled in Troy, Missouri where they made their home and raised three sons. He remained deeply connected to his Arkansas roots and traveled to see his parents quite often.

Art retired from McDonnel Douglas Aircraft in 1994, where he worked as a machinist. Upon retirement he returned to the family farm and built a log house. He enjoyed spending time working to improve the farm, telling stories about his upbringing and life in rural Boswell with his family and friends. He never met a stranger and enjoyed swapping stories with everyone. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in the woods.

He was married to Lovan Jones for 66 years. Art is survived by his wife; his children; Tim Jones (Trinh) of Tallahassee, FL; Tracey Jones (Kim) of Elsberry, MO; Jason Jones of Troy, MO; his six grandchildren, Ryan Jones (Kaisha), Eric Jones (Jazmin), Natalie Harrison (Colby), Brystal Jones, Lillie Jones, and Cole Jones; and one great-grandchild Mason.

He was preceded in death by his brother Glen Jones, his sisters Wilmetta Jones and Marjorie Cooper, and his parents, Calvin and Marie Jones.

His memories will live on through his children and grandchildren and the lessons he taught them about life, family and the outdoors.
