Alvin Paul Durning, Sr., son of the late Ivan and Fama McNutt Durning, was born September 13, 1941 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He departed this life on September 26, 2021 in Batesville, Arkansas at the age of 80 years and 13 days. He was united in marriage to Shirley Crocker Kent on September 8, 1973 in Baytown, Texas. During Alvin's working years, he was a minister of the Pentecostal Faith. He spent his life as a loving father, husband, step-father and grandfather.

Alvin is survived by his wife; Shirley, three daughters; Angela Lewis, Kay Clark and Melissa Ivy from Moss Point, MS; one step-daughter; LaJuana Hurd of Hutto, TX and two step-sons; Timothy Kent of Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas, Thomas Kent of Jacksonville, TX and many grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Alvin Paul Durning, Jr., one sister; Bona Duval and two brothers; Jerry Durning and Dave Durning.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Nail Cemetery, Lafferty Road, Mount Pleasant, Arkansas.
